Art, Reference, Instruction, Images, + Libraries
I am the Director of Library Services Cornish College of the Arts and the Collection Manager of the Monsen Collection of Art.
At Cornish, in addition to my Director duties, I work with students, faculty, staff, and the community on their reference and research needs as well as work closely with my colleagues developing information literacy instruction. I manage the library itself as well as the staff, the college’s archives, library exhibition space, art collections, and instructional visual resources. Through this work, I am able to share my love of the arts while constantly being challenged and pushed to become a better library professional. I get to work with students who are passionate about music, dance, visual art, design, performance production and theater. I get to help them in their research and exploration, in their growth and maturation in their art forms, and in their development as citizens of this planet.
As Collection Manager, I work with the Monsens on their collections of art. I accession, deaccession, catalog, care for, store, and facilitate the loans and donations of the works in the collections. These collections contain photographs, sculptures, ceramics, textiles, paintings, and scrolls. They collect "because museums need the artwork" and it is an honor to play a role in this endeavor.
